Accusing the BJP of engaging in political machinations, the Congress MP unit chief Jitu Patwari termed the situation in Indore as a threat to democracy.

"BJP has done a political unnatural deed in Indore. It has affected Indore. This is an example of 'democracy in danger'. They have kidnapped, threatened candidates in 4 cities. Who has done this crime? People don't have the right to choose. We will press NOTA. It has now become clear that there will be no Modi government. PM Modi only gives controversial statements. There is lack of trust among people. I want to appeal to people to press NOTA," Patwari said, PTI reported.

Lok Sabha Election 2024 live: Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti has penned a letter to the Election Commission, urging intervention to halt the alleged harassment and unlawful detention of party members. 

In her letter to ECI, Mufti said, "It has come to my attention that the state administration, under the control of the Union government, is shamelessly engaged in activities aimed at intimidating voters and supporters of the People's Democratic Party. I am deeply troubled by reports of security agencies conducting raids and harassing PDP workers in the Pulwama and Shopian districts. Numerous party members, sympathizers, and activists have been arbitrarily detained without justification, apparently as punishment for their efforts to organize public rallies and encourage voter turnout."
